Your doctor has determined that the knee pain you are experiencing is caused by osteoarthritis and that you may be a candidate for non-surgical, drug-free, pain-relieving SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy.
SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy is used for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis of the knee in patients who have failed to get adequate relief from simple painkillers or from exercise and physical therapy. SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy is a solution consisting of highly purified sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronan). Hyaluronan is a natural substance found in the body and is a common constituent of connective tissues and the thick, viscous fluid (synovial fluid) found in joints. Hyaluronan acts like a lubricant and shock absorber in synovial fluid of a healthy joint. Osteoarthritis reduces your synovial fluid’s ability to protect and lubricate your joint.
SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy is administered by an injection once a week into your knee for a total of five injections. Your doctor may recommend a local anesthetic prior to injection of SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy to minimize the possible discomfort associated with an injection.
The goal of SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy is relief from pain. However, studies suggest that most patients experiencing relief do so after the full series of five injections. The actual amount and duration of pain relief varies from patient to patient. Immediately after you have the injection and for the next 48 hours, you may need to avoid activities such as jogging, tennis, heavy lifting or standing for a long time. Please note that no treatment, including SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy, helps in every single patient.
You should not use this product if you have a known hypersensitivity (allergy) to SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy or sodium hyaluronate preparations. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to avian proteins, feathers, and egg products. Intra-articular injections are contraindicated in cases of infections or skin diseases in the area of the injection site. The safety and effectiveness of SUPARTZ joint fluid therapy have not been established in pregnant women, in lactating women and in children.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a treatment option for several types of orthopedic injuries and joint pain whereby a high concentration of the patient’s own platelets are injected directly into the injury site to promote healing.
We are excited to offer PRP Therapy, in which a high concentration of the patient’s own platelets and growth factors are injected directly into the injury site to promote healing and give patients another treatment option for dealing with orthopedic conditions such as joint pain and several types of injuries.
Blood is made up of four main components:
Platelets promote clotting through the collection and release of growth factors, which aide in tissue regeneration.
In PRP Therapy, a sample of a patient’s own blood is drawn and spun down to collect only the platelets and white blood cells from the sample. The result is a highly concentrated dose of platelets, which are then injected directly into the injury site to promote inflammation and speed the healing process.
Steroid injections are not considered a long-term solution and frequent steroid injections to control pain can actually weaken tissue in the treated area. PRP Therapy offers the opportunity to heal the affected area, which can be a permanent solution.
If an injury or pain is severe enough to consider surgery, consider PRP Therapy first. Assuming you are a candidate for PRP Therapy, it is a less invasive option which could provide permanent relief. Compared to surgery, PRP Therapy also offers a lower out-of-pocket cost, reduced risk of infection, and shorter recovery period.
"After a cooking incident that caused me to need stitches I went to this wonderful establishment. They made it so easy and less scary. I was in and out feeling better and educated on how to handle my injury. Going back for every service they provide!"
"Everyone at the clinic are very friendly and helpful. From Ruben at the front desk to the nursing staff and Dr. Flores himself, I felt like I was in good hands from the moment I walked in. The clinic is also very accessible from Irving Park road with plenty of street parking. Highly recommend going here if you are looking for a weight loss plan from a qualified doctor."
"Dr. Flores is a great doctor. They always have appointments available for walk ins which is great. The late hours are convenient for people who work late. This place is a 10/10"
